Bar Dansk

Level 3 / 428 Little Bourke Street

Bar Dansk may be small but this Danish treasure won't disappoint.

Set up on the third floor of the beautiful Denmark House it's easy to find and even has a lift for those of us who a lazy and don't want to walk up the 3 flights of stairs. Perhaps the oddest thing when entering this bar was that we were asked to sign in (think RSL). However we were quickly seated, and we were taken back by our waitress's superbly authentic accent.

Although the bar had a slight IKEA feel to it, it was very light with nice big bold windows and views down Bourke street. Fur rugs, leather lounges and nice big art work with the odd danish book here and there.. It was everything you would expect in a trendy Copenhagen Bar.

Drinks on offer were limited and obviously carefully selected for a niche market. However on the plus side, they did have a pretty good Happy Hour which included $5 white and red wine, $5 beer on tap, $6 sparkling and their famous Copenhagen Cocktail for only $10... This runs Wed - Fri nights 4pm-6pm. They were also quite adventurous and passionate about their mirco brewery beers.

Of course we had to save the best for last - the food... It was very Danish and from their pretty cutlery to their Meatballs smørrebrød and to their famous hotdog, YES, YES, YES. In the words of one our barhoppers it was "hoto-licious". We all agreed we would love to come back again to try their restaurant and fine dining.

VERDICT: Highly recommended
